-
September 2024: "In the modern credit union industry, leadership success isn’t defined by tenure or position—it’s measured by how well you empower others to lead in your absence. As counterintuitive as it sounds, the ultimate goal for any leader is to render themselves unnecessary, enabling their teams to flourish independently."
-

September 2023: “SUCCESS is the only magazine that focuses on people who take full responsibility for their own development and income. SUCCESS readers understand that the world has changed and the classic employer-to-employee relationship has changed from a patriarchal to a transactional one. -
August 2023: “No one succeeds in a vacuum. Looking up and around, taking in the ideas and views of others and integrating them into your planning is the path to achievement, says Hamza Khan, the author of two bestselling books on leadership, resilience, productivity and change. “I wake up every single day obsessed with the question: How can we best equip leaders to be prepared for the leadership moments well in advance? And how do we help them learn on the job?” Khan says.”

-
March 2023: “Regarding the ongoing debate in boardrooms about Canada’s future of work and hybrid or flexible work arrangements, I’m disheartened that even three years into our new abnormal, decision-makers at all levels—industry, finances, research, academia and government alike—are still asking the wrong questions. In their misguided attempts to justify a mandated return-to-office, they ask, “What’s best for the organization?” and “What’s best for the Canadian economy?” I suspect they’ll remain stuck on these questions indefinitely unless they look around their decision-making tables (or tessellations of virtual-meeting squares) and ask, “Who’s not here?””
-
March 2023: “Future of work expert Hamza Khan shares tips for overcoming diversity fatigue “Diversity is a business advantage.” So says Hamza Khan, future of work expert, visiting scholar and co-founder of Toronto-based SkillsCamp, in discussing the rising trend of diversity fatigue. “In other words, what's good for employees is what’s good for the organization. When a diverse and inclusive workplace culture is prioritized, everyone wins.””
-
February 2023: “According to Deloitte University Press, 86% of companies have identified developing new leaders as an “urgent” need. And upon closer inspection, it’s clear to see why. When it comes to managers’ performance, alarmingly, the norm seems to be incompetence. In a recent study, Gallup found that companies fail to choose suitable candidates for management roles a staggering 82% of the time. Now to be fair, there are not many qualified potential people to choose from in the first place. In another report, Gallup revealed that only 1 in 10 people possess requisite management talents, such as the ability to build relationships that create trust, open dialogue, and full transparency. And of those who do end up becoming managers, their talent is seldom nurtured.”
-
February 2023: “Today's workers are less inclined to stay with a job just because it pays well, and more open to a change that means increased freedom, a better work environment, and a healthier work-life balance. To mirror this shift, good leadership is about more than driving revenue; it's about prioritizing employees and recognizing them for who they are, not just the work they do. A major proponent and expert on this subject is global keynote speaker, author and educator Hamza Khan. His Ted Talks, speeches, and bestselling book, The Burnout Gamble: Achieve More by Beating Burnout and Building Resilience, have guided teams at Microsoft, PepsiCo, LinkedIn and TikTok in the areas of leadership, resilience and productivity. One of things he focuses on is basic human needs, and how prioritizing them helps to lay a great foundation for an organization's success.”
-
December 2022: “Innovation is necessary to keep a competitive edge in your industry, which is why modern leaders are focusing a lot of attention on innovation. In one of my recent interviews with Hamza Khan, he gave a beautiful definition of what innovation means: the ability to anticipate and create (or respond to) change before it is required.”
-
August 2022: “While setting up our sponsor booth at #PSEWEB 2022: Canada’s College & University Digital Marketing Conference, my Evolving Web colleagues and I immediately felt integrated into the pleasant atmosphere of knowledge sharing and professional development that could finally take place in person. Since the conference was held at McGill University - just blocks away from our Evolving Web office in downtown Montreal - five of us attended the conference, and two of us were voted by the PSEWEB community to be session speakers.”
-
June 2022: “Anything worth doing requires effort, which is going to involve some stress on your mind and body. But not all stress is your enemy. “Accept that the problem isn’t stress in and of itself,” writes Hamza Khan, author of The Burnout Gamble: Achieve More by Beating Burnout and Building Resilienceand speaker at this year’s AICPA® & CIMA® Women’s Global Leadership Summit. “It’s pressure that converts into distress, and prolonged periods of stress, along with intense stress, lead to burnout.” Although a healthy amount of temporary stress can be necessary to reach your goals, an excessive amount can be deadly. According to the Center for Workplace Mental Health, an estimated 120,000 people die every year in the U.S. as a result of excessive workplace stress.”
-
February 2022: “Hamza Khan, a professor and public speaker, and Bailey Parnell, the founder and CEO of SkillsCamp Soft Skills Training, met in 2012 and worked together in Ryerson’s student affairs department. They got engaged in December of 2019 and were married two years later at the Fairmont Royal York. Here’s how it all came together.”
-
February 2022: “For some soulmates, it’s love at first sight. For others, what’s written in the stars falls to earth in its own time. Bailey Parnell and Hamza Khan first met when they started working together at Ryerson. Next, they became business partners and, this past winter, they were married. Now, in honour of their parents, and in memory of Parnell’s late mother, Brigitte Voigtlander, the couple are generously giving back to the place where they met by creating the Parnell-Khan Bursary for Equity-Deserving Students.”
-
February 2022: “The short answer to the question of “how can I become a better manager” is to stop managing altogether and to start leading instead. For in the wise words of Admiral Grace Murray Hopper, “you manage things; you lead people.” Leading in 2022 (and beyond) requires operationalizing and maximizing four distinctly “human” values: servitude, innovation, diversity, and empathy. To create value-driven, change-friendly, self-disrupting, and future-proof organizations, modern leaders should consider implementing the following four tried-and-tested strategies.”
-
January 2022: “Make sure to read Hamza Khan's article Human 9000: Navigating the future of work with attunement, resilience, and creativity, in this issue of The Ontario Technologist #TheOT. Across the planet, organizations are facing what the World Economic Forum (WEF) has described as a “reskilling emergency.” By 2030, 42 per cent of the core skills required to perform existing jobs are expected to change, and more than a billion people globally will need to be re-skilled. Why? Accelerated by the pandemic, the world of work is in a state of flux.”
-
October 2021: “Loopicon 2021—the top growth-focused conference for RFP responders—kicked off on a positive note from Zak Hemraj, CEO and co-founder of Loopio. “We are seeing record breaking growth. The stock market dip we saw in early 2020 is far in the rearview mirror. And although we’re still dealing with a plethora of challenges related to the pandemic, the economy is showing no signs of slowing down,” says Zak.”
-
September 2021: ”Hamza Khan is a multi-award-winning marketer, bestselling author, and global keynote speaker whose TEDx talk “Stop Managing, Start Leading” has been viewed over a million times. He shares actionable insights on resilience,”
-
July 2021: ““I hit rock bottom, and it was at that point when I first sought out a therapist at the university. They had a health and wellness department, and they put you on this waiting list and ranked you in terms of priority and urgency–a triage system. They had three therapists for a university of 50,000 students. You can only imagine how long it took for me to get that one appointment. But I got that appointment, and it changed my life. It suddenly allowed me to see myself in a way that I had never seen myself. The therapist described the session as ‘unpacking my brain.’ Visualize [therapy’s effect] our brains as unpacking luggage and then repackaging it so that it fits and closes correctly and it's lighter.”
-
April 2021: “Since the pandemic started over a year ago, signs of burnout in employees have increased exponentially. A little over two-thirds of employees are suffering from burnout symptoms while working from home. On Bold TV, Dr. Kimberly Wilson, creator of The Burnout Cure, and Hamza Khan, author of “The Burnout Gamble,” discussed this epidemic. What exactly is it? According to the World Health Organization, “Burnout is a syndrome conceptualized as resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed.” It can be identified in three ways:”
-
April 2021: ”Watch Hamza Khan’s talk about making the most of your time and how to overcome procrastination using productivity hacks. As a part of our SLN Workshops guest lecture series, Hamza spoke all about turning your ideas into action with productivity hacks to help you optimize your time, energy, and attention. You can watch Hamza’s entire Productivity Hacks workshop right now.”
-
March 2021: “Change isn’t coming, it’s already here. By 2030, 70% of the workforce will be affected by automation. This means 2 in 3 people will be forced to rethink their entire career game plan. That’s the bad news. The good news is that we’re going to be ok, because when it comes to adapting to change, as a species, humans are undefeated. In this week’s edition of our Virtual Speakers Series, Hamza Khan took us on a rollercoaster of a ride through the future of work — the good, the bad, and the ugly. Coming off of a difficult year that has only accelerated the pace of change in the workforce, Hamza says, it’s more important now than ever for organizations to prepare themselves and their teams for the only constant in life — change.”
-
March 2021: “over 1,000 Saskatchewan Polytechnic students registered for the first virtual KNOW conference presented by Graham. Throughout the full day professional development conference, students had the opportunity to learn a variety of essential skills to help them along their career journey.“Sask Polytech students had the opportunity to connect with and learn from each other, as well as community leaders, industry experts and Sask Polytech alumni,” says Alice Miller, Sask Polytech associate vice-president of Student Services. “Students participated in the conference by selecting breakout sessions that resonated with their personal and career goals.”
-
March 2021: “Hamza Khan dedicates his life to empowering post-secondary students. “A problem I hope to fix in my lifetime is the lack of information about different ways to fund your education and alleviate financial worries and burdens,” said the managing director of Student Life Network, a resource hub for Canadian students. Some students are working several jobs to fund their education on top of the rigorous demands of their programs, which can lead to burnout, a phenomenon that is not reserved for workers and employees outside of academia. “
-
March 2021: “Following a year like no other, marked by intense societal shifts and cultural disruptions, change is all but inevitable. But what kind of change? Cultural and business theorist Hamza Khan (UTSC BA 2010) argues that businesses of all stripes – from the micro shop to the largest corporation – will need to rethink their model of leadership. Ahead of his free talk on April 8, “The Bright Side of Leadership: The Complexity of Managing People in the New Normal,” we sat down with Khan to talk about leadership, empathy, and who might benefit from his talk.”
-
March 2021: “As the way we do business is rapidly under transformation thanks to the impact of technology, innovation, and world events, it’s equally important to make sure our approach to management and leadership changes too and is equally modern. This is the impetus behind Hamza Khan’s latest book, Leadership, Reinvented, which was released last week. In his new book, the award-winning marketer and entrepreneur argues that traditional leadership has been long overdue for reinvention. To that end, Hamza set out to provide exercises, techniques, strategies, and tools for leaders at all organizational levels. He hopes to equip readers with the skills based on four crucial pillars of success in management roles: empathy, serving others, diversity, and innovation.”
-
February 2021: “Toronto is a dynamic city full of life and creativity. Not only is this urban playground the home of exciting bars, clubs, and restaurants, but it is also full of extremely talented people. This kind of landscape attracts artists from all different backgrounds, which makes it a hotspot for freelancers. As a student and a freelancer myself, I find this equal parts exciting and intimidating. Freelancing in its nature is very fast-paced and unpredictable, which makes it hard to navigate, especially as a student. That is why I sat down and interviewed some amazing local talent who know this game inside and out. I first spoke with Julie Martinson, the creative director at Salt XC, an ad agency in Toronto. As creative director, Julie oversees many projects with several clients, and as a result, manages numerous freelancers. This gives her a valuable perspective when it comes to freelancing, making her someone that you definitely want to hear from. “
-
December 2020: “Last week we learnt the art of mastering productivity with Hamza Khan. As you watch the full interview with Hamza you will realize there is a lot more to him than just some productivity hacks. Hamza is a storyteller. He is an educator. He is a serial entrepreneur who also speaks on the topic of leadership. Leadership has a constantly growing and evolving definition. It is the ability to inspire and execute a movement. You don’t have to be a leader of a country or a fortune 500 company to be considered a leader. You can be a leader of your own self like Hamza was during his time with the Canadian Armed Forces. You can be the leader of your family. You can be a leader of your sports team or a leader of your friends. In order to become great leaders, we need to cultivate the following four (4) skills. “
-
April 2020: ”I want to disclose that I normally sit down with the people I interview in person over a coffee but given the circumstances the world is in right now, Hamza and I chatted via Google Hangout and I owe him a cup of joe the next time I see him! This has been a great adjustment period for many people and I hope we find a solution for this as soon as possible. Stay home, stay safe!”
-
November 2019: “As a child, I had a starstruck fascination with music videos. This obsession inspired me, as a teenager, to pursue videography as a hobby. Armed with nothing but the family camcorder, a handful of memory cards, and the earliest editions of Windows Movie Maker, my friends and I would painstakingly produce new takes on our favourite pop, rock, and hip-hop music videos from the early 2000s. Mind you, all of this was taking place at the dawn of the internet as we now know it, back when Facebook still had a masthead, and Google Video was warring with a small upstart called YouTube.”
-
October 2019: “At the event, attendees heard honest and engaging firsthand accounts of burnout and workplace stress from keynote panelists: Julie Sabine (Moderator), CMO, Inkblot Technologies Cherry Rose Tan, Founder & CEO, For Founders by Founders Hamza Khan, Managing Director, Student Life Network Jason Tafler, CEO & Founder, Unyte Sara Asalya, Graduate Student, OISE & Ryerson Employee Why talk about burnout and workplace stress? Well, according to findings from Statistics Canada, 20% of Canadians will experience burnout at some point in their life.”
-
June 2019: “In today’s Big Story podcast, more of us than ever before are burning out at work. The rise in this kind of stress, in fact, is pronounced enough that last week the World Health Organization categorized “burnout” as an official occupational syndrome. That means no, you might not just be having a rough couple weeks. You might really need help. Because we know now that the end of this path isn’t pretty.”
-
June 2019: “Whatever success means to you, you can’t achieve it alone. But for most of us, that’s hard to swallow, when we feel alone. Toxic workplaces and the stigma around mental health have isolated us. Yet toxic workplaces mean we need supportive communities more than ever. We need safe spaces to share our stories. We need organizations to put us, humans, before profits. We need role models to share their public voice.Such supportive communities exist.”
-
May 2019: “Over 10 years ago, Hassan was set to be engaged to his university sweetheart. The 31-year-old from Toronto, who chose not to share his full name, said that like other South Asian couples he knew, he had decided to throw a party the night before his engagement. Family and friends had flown in from as far as Mumbai and Dubai to share in the celebration,” he said. “We booked a banquet hall, her ring was in my tailored suit pocket, and we were ready to do the damn thing”
-
March 2019: “Job hunting is a frustrating process. On your days off from your gruelling, low-paying survival job, you summon the energy to log onto LinkedIn and scroll through dozens postings—hoping that the doors to a career just may be opened by that piece of paper you went into crippling debt for. Then you spend hours tailoring and spell-checking your resume and cover letter to a posting… or 10, because having to decide between groceries and your phone bill this month is getting exhausting, and your parents won’t get off your ass about getting a “real job.””
-
March 2019: ”Co-Founder of Splash Effect, Hamza Khan sat down with CanadianSME to discuss what inspired him to launch his business, the biggest challenge he faced as a business owner and his advice on what he wished someone would have told him in the beginning when he first got started.”
-
November 2018: ”Final exams got your heart racing? You’re not alone. All of us have those monster subjects we fear to death. If you’ve been avoiding studying or just procrastinating, you’ll be more aware of this feeling. As final exams draw closer, some topics will just make your stomach drop and some will make you stay awake until the exam night. “
-
September 2017: “The next generation will enter a work environment in which people will not only compete with each other, but will also compete with artificial intelligence machines. "This is unprecedented. Something similar happened during the Industrial Revolution, but now we are adding another dimension to autonomous cars, artificial intelligence, etc. " This was said in the show UpDate on Bloomerg TV Bulgaria by Hamza Kahn, a specialist in strategic marketing and entrepreneur.”
-
September 2017: "The World Health Organization (WHO) defines stress as the epidemic of the 21st century, which has a serious impact on the individual, as well as on business and the economy. The most susceptible to stress and the professional burnout syndrome (Burnout) are the young people of Generation Y and Z. A study in Toronto (Canada) shows that nearly 30% of young people there suffer from anxiety, depressive experiences and other health problems that are effects of stress. This was said at a press conference in the capital today by Hamza Khan, motivational speaker and chief ambassador for 2017 of the Burnout Gamble & Work - Life Balance initiative. According to him, the annual cost to business and the economy in the US as a result of stressed employees already exceeds 320 billion dollars, and the world as a whole is facing a new and very big challenge - to find an answer to the question of how to overcome this burden."
-
September 2017: "About BGN 70 - 80 million are the losses of employers due to stress at the workplace , and about 30 percent of company turnover is due to this psychogenic factor, which also includes the so-called burnout at the workplace. Tomcho commented on this at a press conference in BTA Tomov - Head of the National Competence Management Center at the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce (BCC).
-
September 2017 : "Stress is the cause of 30% of workplace departures and 80 million BGN losses for businesses per year in Bulgaria. To minimize the damage to the economy , a clearer state policy and programs for the prevention of the burnout syndrome are needed .
The participants in a press conference on the topic "The game of professional burnout & balance personal life - work" united around this opinion."
-
September 2017: "Over 50% of hospitalizations last year were due to stress-related illnesses. Hospital costs in 2016 were worth BGN 144 million, which means that business losses from them amount to BGN 70-80 million. In addition, observations indicate that 30% of staff turnover is due to stress, including the so-called syndrome of professional burnout or "burnout". Those working in the social spheres are the most affected, and high-tech industries pay priority attention to the problem."
-
September 2017: "here are no clear statistics on the damage caused by stress on working people in Bulgaria, but more than half of the sick days during the year are for diseases and conditions related to stress and overwork, and almost a third of those who leave work argue with professional burnout. These are losses for the business in the range of BGN 70-80 million every year. At the same time, only about 6% of companies in our country have policies and programs to deal with stress at work, and mostly foreign companies in the field of information technology."
-
September 2017 : "Professional burnout has a detrimental effect on the economy . Europe loses 600 billion euros a year from stress, it became clear at a press conference. This is a topic that has been talked about for a long time, announced Anelia Gorgorova, manager of a consulting company in the field of human resources. Hamza Khan - strategic marketing specialist, entrepreneur, motivational speaker and one of the most interesting and motivating personalities who speak on the subject of Burnout, shared that stress is a global epidemic of the XXI century according to the WHO."
-
September 2017: "Strategic marketing specialist Hamza Khan recalled that the World Health Organization defines burnout syndrome as the global epidemic of the 21st century. He pointed out that the losses from this condition amount to billions of dollars. Research related to business losses from these problems indicates that annual costs in Europe from depression as a result of work amount to €617 billion. Among them, those due to absence from work are €272 billion, from loss of productivity are € 242 billion, and health costs are €63 billion. Social disability payments are €39 billion."
-
September 2017: "About BGN 70 - 80 million are the losses of employers due to stress at the workplace, and about 30 percent of company turnover is due to this psychogenic factor, which also includes the so-called burnout at the workplace. Tomcho commented on this at a press conference in BTA Tomov - head of the National Center for Competence Management in the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce (BCC), Darik reported. Hamza Khan - strategic marketing specialist, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, noted at the press conference that burnout occurs because people believe in myths - about progress, efficiency, perfection, satisfaction and continuous innovation. We believe these things and we enter a continuous cycle of burnout, Kahn added."
-
September 2017: ""Stress is the epidemic of the 21st century. It works on two levels - frequency and degree of stress. In North America, burnout costs businesses over $320 billion a year. In Toronto, 30% of young people have mental health problems, anxiety, depression or various physical ailments," said Hamza Khan, a strategic marketing specialist, entrepreneur and motivational speaker

August 2017: ”Tell someone "I'm sick" or "I'm tired" and you're not really giving the person much information. How sick? How tired? Do you have a mild cold or a dreaded disease? Are you a new parent who hasn't slept in months or did you just enjoy the party last night a little too much?”
-
August 2017: “We recently wrote about how you can avoid burnout—but what if you are already in the burnout process and have no idea? Hamza Khan of 99u recently wrote a post that highlights the 12 stages of burnout, as defined by psychologists Herbert Freudenberger and Gail North. At the beginning, people who are starting to suffer from “mental, emotional and physical exhaustion” due to work would feel the need to demonstrate their worth—at this stage, they may actually be very productive and enthusiastic.”

October 2016: “Learning my grandmother's life stories helped me to reconnect with my own Indian-American and Indian-Canadian identity in a way that Bollywood movies never could. If you're the first-generation child of immigrant parents, you owe it to yourself to learn the language of your grandparents. Spend some time with them and ask them about their life. Go deeper than the mere sequence of events you might've never ventured beneath because of language barriers. It could just be the key to unlocking dimensions of who you are. But this stellar track record is a new development in his life. When he was a university student, Hamza felt disengaged from his program and uninspired by his studies. “I was the last to arrive to class and the first person to leave,” remembers Hamza. “I’d sit at the back of the class, with my headphones and my hat on, working on side projects.””

May 2015: “What happens when you put six Student Affairs professionals into one recreational vehicle and send them across two countries, three provinces, seven states and six universities? The experience of travelling to a professional conference is routine and uneventful – you print or download an itinerary, hop on a plane/train/bus and that’s it. You use the journey to catch up on work, entertainment or sleep, with the understanding that the learning will take place once you’ve reached your destination. But who says the journey itself can’t be a learning opportunity?”

That's roughly the same number of people who passed on his Dec. 8 bulletins "hanging with the team" and the insightful "gym before tonight's last show." By comparison, when CNN's breaking news account tweeted that beloved world leader Nelson Mandela was dead at 95 years old, only about 15,000 people saw fit to pass the tweet on.”

October 2012: “You're a small business owner and air travel is one of those expenses that can bust a budget. While airfares have shot up in recent years, there are rewards programs and complimentary services that can take some of the sting out of business travel. In August, 2011, Air Canada launched a loyalty program specifically for small businesses. The move was made because of increased competition in the nation's airline industry, Air Canada manager of corporate communications Peter Fitzpatrick said.”
